The Kickstarter Report: ‘Goldtiger’

Goldtiger“It’s the most iconic ’60s comic strip that never existed!” The Fanboy Comics staff recently learned of an intriguing, new Kickstarter campaign that aims to collect the never-before-seen comic strips for Goldtiger, a ’60s series that was shrouded in controversy due to its racy content and troubled creators.  But .  . . here’s the thing.  The entire premise for the book – the troubled creators, the controversial content, and its journey to (never) be published – is fictional.

Written by Guy Adams (The World House, Restoration, The Heavens Gate Chronicles) and featuring art by Jimmy Broxton (Knight & Squire, Saucer Country), Goldtiger will be a hardcover collection of the fictional ’60s comic strip and the story of its failure to be published.  The comic strip itself will feature the fantastical adventures of fashonistas and guns-for-hire Lily Tiger and Jack Gold in a gun-toting, sexy saga of crazy villains and nail-baiting action.  The hardcover will also include behind-the-scenes material from the strip’s creators, including letters, scripts, interviews, and sketches that detail their slow decline following the cancellation of their comic strip.

To see a preview of the amazing artwork in store for the project, be sure to check out the below video.

Be sure to visit the Goldtiger Kickstarter page, and don’t forget to check out the backer rewards, which include Goldtiger t-shirts, iPad skins, limited edition hardcovers of the book, and the chance to become a villain within the pages of the Goldtiger comic strip!  These are only a handful of the amazing rewards available and more will be added throughout the campaign.  The campaign closes on Sunday, March 17th, so be sure to donate soon!
