‘Lenore: Purple Nurples:’ Hardcover Review

I should probably preface this review by saying that I have never really been one for goth culture; however, if you are and you enjoy things like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Invader Zim, then the Lenore series is right up your alley.

The most recent addition to the series is Lenore: Purple Nurples. The distinct, quirky, dark comedic writing matches the macabre Saturday-morning-cartoon-style art. Roman Dirge’s art manages to be creepy, yet adorable. As for the writing, I felt that it tended to rely on self-awareness a bit too much; however, I am willing to give that a pass since a Doctor Who allusion found its way into the book.

I tend to be a bit of a stickler for continuity, so, while this is not really a bit deal, it bothered me more than it should. When the Creepig hunts down Lenore, his fork weapon on his severed arm keeps switching from left to right and sometimes disappears completely. Like I said, it is not really a bit deal and, honestly, if that is the biggest flaw in the book, then there is not much to complain about.

Overall, Lenore: Purple Nurples is a solidly enjoyable read.
