We meet several new characters in this issue. One of them is the aforementioned Madluck Biggun. Another is a rhinoceros named Sid who has a slightly more Douglas Adams-esque personality than most of the other characters. I wonder if Sid will turn out to be at all related to Desmond, the rhinoceros whom Dirk meets in Adams’ unfinished Salmon of Doubt novel. I rather hope so.
This is shaping up to be a rather interesting story. There are some twists this issue that, though I obviously won’t reveal them here, I’m curious to see how they play out going forward. This arc, in general, seems to be a bit stronger than the previous one (“The Funamental Interconnectedness of All Kings”), and, dare I say it, I’m even enjoying it. If you’re a fan of bizarre, somewhat twisty stories, you might want to check this one out.
