Not much scares me.  It is one of the things that my family finds a little unnerving about me.  I can’t be sneaked up on or jumped out at…I won’t flinch and I won’t react.

Halloween and horror movies are inseparable. October is, of course, the month that people want to be scared senseless, while horror film enthusiasts are usually drinking in the array of movies available on cable and in theaters during this time. The problem with that is, by limiting themselves to American horror, they’re missing out on the scariest films out there.

When this assignment was first sent to me, my mind immediately went into a racing frenzy! I mean, there are so many amazing villains out there in the comic book world, not to mention those in film, TV, books, video games, and whatever other media you can think of. But, who is ultimately the SCARIEST?

I attended high school in the late '80s in a small, isolated town in Arizona.  This small, isolated hgh school boasted about 60 students during the years I attended; there were 15 kids in my graduating class, and we were one of the bigger classes.  We were over an hour away from the nearest “big town,” from its movies, malls, and restaurants.

It’s Halloween, and that means, once again, it’s time to start thinking scary. The classic sci-fi horror flick, Alien, has always been near and dear to my heart and, in my opinion, one of the scariest films of all time. In fact, unlike most comic book fans who found their passion for “the pulp” in the superhero genre, it was my obsession at a young age with the (then) Alien Trilogy that lead me to seek out Dark Horse Comics’ Aliens comic line of the early '90s, open the pages in hushed awe, and start a life-long addiction. The original film, Alien, is an intense, terrifying, and masterfully crafted example of both the best of science-fiction and horror genres.

There aren’t too many things that are as frightening as the tongue-twisting title above, but if you decide to stick around for the rest of this sordid, little tale, I can promise you a story that won’t disappoint. (No guarantees and no money back. Offer valid in 49 states. Sorry, Tennessee.)

I don’t recall exactly when I heard about the 2010 South Korean thriller/horror movie, I Saw the Devil, but one commenter stated that it was one of the most disturbing films she’d ever watched, and I was hooked. I had recently gotten onto a Takashi Miike kick, so Asian horror was on my radar, but I didn’t know where to start. (Horror can be hit or miss for me.) Upon hearing that I Saw The Devil portrayed horror, atrocities, and fear beyond my wildest imagination, I had to see if I could handle the twisted revenge tale. I found a movie with incredible gore, creative brutality, and that left me wondering whether the main character was someone I wanted to root for after all.
