Project #1: Super Best Friend

What it's about
: Two-time Ringo-nominated comic book writer and podcast host Jason Inman (Jupiter Jet, Super Soldiers, Geek History Lesson podcast) teams up with George Kambadais (The Black Ghost & Firefly) for a story that combines superheroes with the world of live streaming.

Super Best Friend revolves around young Mattie Moore who is the best friend of the renowned Captain Terrific, the world’s greatest superhero! He records the captain’s acts of heroism for the world to see on a channel lovingly called “Super Best Friend;” however, everything changes when Mattie makes a grave mistake! He records Captain Terrific during a personal moment, accidentally revealing his secret identity to the entire world! Now, it’s up to Mattie to restore his friend’s secret identity through any wacky means necessary. Can the young Mattie Moore repair this clamorous situation? It’s time for the sidekick to become the hero.

Project #2: Arroyo Seco #1: When Coyote Was Human

What it's about
: The twists and turns of the Arroyo Seco watershed, from mountain mud to freeway cement, serve as a metaphorical backdrop to this contemporary noir thriller, where an undercover FBI agent with indigenous roots pursues a crooked cop with ties to corrupt politicians and the drug cartel. According to Chumash and Gabrielino/Tongva mythology, the coyote appears as an archetypal hero who retains both virtue and vice. “When coyote was human…” is a Chumash phrase similar to, “Once upon a time…” Frank Snellen is the embodiment of this dichotomy. His perilous journey will take him deep inside a corrupt system of power where good is painted in shades of bad. His is the mythic struggle of the noir anti-hero. And what lies on the other side might just offer him a glimpse into his own coyote heart.

The coolest backer reward: The Coyote Edition (print or digital) includes Arroyo Seco #1, The Locksmith 1-4, The Crossroads board book, plus a high-res digital print of Jonathan Marks Barravecchia’s watercolor cover art for Arroyo Seco #1.
