Fanbase Press Interviews R.H. Stavis on Her Book, ‘Sister of Darkness’

The following is an interview with author R.H. Stavis on her recently released book, Sister of Darkness, from Dey Street Books with co-author Sarah Durand. In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Stavis about the inspiration behind the story, her creative process in working with Durand, what she has planned for the future, and more!

Barbra Dillon, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief: Congratulations on the recent release of your novel, Sister of Darkness, through Dey Street Books!  For those who may be unfamiliar, how would you describe the book’s premise, and what inspired you to tell this story?

R.H. Stavis: The book chronicles my life as an exorcist here in Los Angeles, explains how attachment and possession works, and thoroughly guides readers through the world of entities, or demons. I decided to write the book because I knew that the information would ultimately reach many more people than I could possibly take on as clients, and could teach people how to help themselves if they believe they are suffering with attachment.

BD: What can you share with us about your creative process in writing the book with Sarah Durand?

RHS: Sarah was the best! We spoke for many hours and she asked a million questions – which was great, because it helped me look into what needed more information, what needed further description, etc. I could not have done this book without her.

BD: How would you describe your path towards nondenominational exorcism, and what do you feel is most important for readers to understand about the field of practice?

RHS: I would describe my path as “destiny always finds a way”, in that, growing up, I didn’t even want to talk about this “gift” I had of seeing entities. But eventually I could no longer ignore or try to shut out the experience, which led me to find my path as an exorcist. The major thing I think people should know is that entity and possession ultimately works in energy and frequency. Entities are low frequency beings, and are seeking out a signature match to feed from. We are all energy, and when we go through trauma, often times our energy takes a hit. We become low frequency, and entity attaches.

BD: What do you hope that readers will take away from your work?

RHS: The biggest thing I hope readers will take away is that we are very powerful. Every thought, every word, and every action we perform can change our lives, and the lives of others, every minute of every day. We need to use that ability to help heal ourselves and the world.

BD: What makes Dey Street Books the perfect home for Sister of Darkness?

RHS: Dey Street, and my editor Carrie Thornton, felt very strongly about sharing this message, and we were aligned from the beginning. As a person who believes in Spirit and energy, it felt right immediately, and still does.

BD: Are there any upcoming projects on which you are currently working that you would like to share with our readers?

RHS: Though I can’t share details just yet, there is a television series in the works!

BD: Lastly, what is the best way for our readers to find more information about Sister of Darkness?

RHS: The book is widely available in stores and through Amazon and Barnes and Noble. And I’m on Twitter and Instagram as @rhstavis.
