Wonder Woman Day 2017: The World is Ready for Wonder Woman!

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
All the world’s waiting for you, and the power you possess…

Wonder Woman, Wonder Woman.
Now the world is ready for you, and the wonders you can do.

~ Lyrics from the 1970s Wonder Woman television series

Lynda Carter’s portrayal of Amazonian warrior Princess Diana (or Diana Prince) for three seasons during the latter decade of the 1970s has remained an indelible popular culture icon for almost 40 years. This superhero, who was created by feminist psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston, has been fighting for justice since she first appeared in the pages of All-Star Comics #8 in October 1941, and then her first cover in January 1942’s Sensation Comics #1. DC Comics has been her home exclusively from the beginning, and in honor of the Wonder Woman film (dir. Patty Jenkins), the publisher has declared Saturday, June 3, as Wonder Woman Day. Local comic book retailers will be giving out free copies of DC Super Hero Girls Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1.

Fanbase Press staff and contributors are celebrating and honoring the fandoms that exist to celebrate all-things Wonder Woman – comics, books, television shows, collectibles, and, of course, the film starring Gal Gadot! To celebrate Wonder Woman Day 2017, please check out:
