‘Damn Tourists #4-5:’ Comic Book Review

Ready for some wackiness? Those Damn Tourists are back in full force to turn your life upside down (in a good way).  With the stresses of today’s world, silliness and absurdity are even more important, and the continuing saga of the most obnoxious elderly tourists in the world is here for you.

Issue four takes our intrepid wanderers to an unsuspecting Las Vegas, where their ability to annoy other people has no limits. Between holding up traffic to take a photo next to a billboard of The Blue Man Group, to overly bright Hawaiian print shirts to cleaning out the bank in every casino, people quickly learn that there is nothing they can do to stop them. But what happens next is a surprise to everyone.

In issue five, our four elderly tourists decide to drive to Florida from Las Vegas. (I’m sure the airlines would be happy not to have them on board.)  With a new cell phone in hand, they are even more dangerous when taking a selfie.  Florida has been alerted they are coming, but can they really be prepared for this onslaught of annoyance? Will Spring Break beach goers be safe? And about the aftermath?

This fun and silly comic pretty much has the same recurring joke throughout the series, which is the point. What makes it amusing is the different types of chaos these characters create wherever they go.  The fact that they are so clueless is annoying, which goes hand-in-hand with the overall theme; however, the creator might want to do another pass on the lettering as each issue had words that were smashed together in a dialogue balloon.

If you are looking for something light and doesn’t require much brain power, then feel free to step into the world of the most annoying tourists in the world. It might be what your brain has been waiting for.
