Lady Hellaine has now brought in the young street rat Rory as her ward of sorts. The young girl is very drawn and taken with the cool and beautiful mystery woman, even after witnessing some graphic things in the last issue's events. The story intensifies as Widow Swanson dives deeper not into Hellaine’s background, but the creatures of which the Lady is one of. For the first time, we also hear Hellaine’s inner monologue which is very curious. It seems she has connections to people in town that she was not aware of.
This series is very well paced. I love how in each issue we get a little more information about who and what Lady Hellaine is. What she is is something I have never seen nor read about before, and I am enthralled. I mean, how often do we get to meet a new creature that has never been seen in Gothic horror? If you have been watching Penny Dreadful during quarantine, pick up the first few issues of Mercy!
