In this penultimate issue, Mila, Telsa, and the rest of the crew attempt to hide from the Ghiashian troops in the mines. It’s a game of cat and mouse and whose magic is stronger. Andy, Effy, and the robot villagers are on their way to Dirishu-6, but Mother’s forces may have other plans. As for Tim and Driller the Killer, their fight against Mother’s sister is swift and brutal, but takes an interesting twist.
An action-packed and fast-paced story, it still allows room for character development as we learn more about Mila which, to be truthful, wasn’t much of a surprise. The entire series has been leading up to this revelation, though it was great when it finally arrived. I especially loved Helga’s reaction of “whoa.” Tim has a surprise for Mother I didn’t see coming which was cool.
The story continues the theme of the duality of magic and machine which begs the question, “Is there really a difference?” With one more issue to go, it will be interesting to see who survives. Will the duality of magic and machine continue for humans and humanoids alike, or will both perish? We’ll see.
I will say if they kill off Bandit in the final issue, I’m going to be really annoyed. Plus, someone really needs to manufacture Bandit replicas, because I’m sure that I’m not the only one who’d buy one.
