As a special feature of The Fanbase Weekly podcast, the Fanbase Feature focuses on and celebrates a specific element of geek culture.

The following is an interview with Comic Art Professional Society (CAPS) President Christie Shinn. In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Shinn about the evolution of the organization in light of COVID, the big plans and milestones in store for 2023, how interested artists can get involved, and more!

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is so much more than a sequel; it’s a dedication to the Fellowship established in the first film in the trilogy. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli pursue the orcs who have taken Merry and Pippin, while Sam and Frodo continue to Mordor to rid the world of the one ring. Their pursuit is seemingly endless, running constantly in an effort to gain ground and rescue their friends.

Paul and Corey Cross the Streams is a bi-monthly podcast in which hosts Paul Pakler and Corey Pepper watch and review streaming content. It's the Great American Podcast where two friends learn about life as they float down the river of streaming services.

Picking right up where it left off, Specs #2 examines the aftermath of a monkey’s paw wish that, obviously, went very wrong. With a mere wish, Kenny and Ted wished the school bully out of existence, which is pretty horrific if you think about the people who might actually care for Skunk, bully or not. The horror is not lost on the two best friends as they struggle to move forward, all the while feeling like Damocles’ sword might be hanging over their heads. In a fateful wish to help his friend, and probably to help himself, too, Kenny makes a wish that will change their lives forever.

Tread Perilously is a podcast in which hosts Erik Amaya and author Justin Robinson watch the “worst” episodes of popular TV shows, attempting to determine if they would continue to watch the series based on the most off-key moments.

This Week: Beverly Hills 90210's "Totally Happening Life"

Tread Merrily makes a stop at Beverly Hills 90210 for an episode they had to call "It's a Totally Happening Life."

The following is an interview with artist Rachele Aragno regarding the return of Leonide the Vampyr in Leonide: A Christmas for Frows, a new comic book series from creator Mike Mignola through Dark Horse Comics. In this interview, Fanbase Press Editor-in-Chief Barbra Dillon chats with Aragno about her shared creative process of working with Mignola to bring this story to life, the experience of crafting all-new characters for the adventure, and more!

If you read my reviews, you know by now how much I love time-travel stories. (And if you don’t read my reviews, then I’ll tell you how much I love time-travel stories: quite a lot.) Just from the description of Vicious Circle, I knew it would be a lot of fun, and, indeed, it did not disappoint. It’s pure, mind-bending, era-hopping temporal shenanigans at their finest.

In The Fanbase Weekly, the Fanbase Press staff and a host of special guests from across the pop culture spectrum discuss the top geek stories of the week.

Throughout 2020 and 2021, Fanbase Press' weekly Creator Forums provided comics industry professionals with an opportunity to discuss ways to cope with the changing comics landscape in light of the Coronavirus. As a new year begins and the impact of COVID-19 continues, it is not lost on us that comic book conventions - and the opportunity to connect with industry colleagues personally and professionally - will not take place in the same manner for the foreseeable future. To provide further opportunities to connect with industry creators, publishers, media, retailers, and educators during our collective quarantine, Fanbase Press will be hosting its next Comics & Coffee virtual meetup on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 10 a.m./PT (1 p.m./EST). Fanbase Press' Comics & Coffee is a FREE hour-long Zoom session taking place every Saturday, welcoming new and experienced comics pros to a virtual meetup that aims to fill the convention-less void with networking opportunities, sharing creative successes and failures, and troubleshooting ways to navigate the industry in the weeks and months to come.
