Join Fanbase Press for Virtual WonderCon@Home 2021 Programming and More

While in-person conventions are still on the horizon, the Fanbase Press staff is very excited to be taking part in this year’s virtual WonderCon@Home 2021 festivities, alongside a host of talented creators! Taking place from March 26-27, 2021, the annual event is a celebration of comic books and pop culture that showcases the exceptional works of talented writers, artists, illustrators, and creators of all pop culture genres. Throughout the virtual event, WonderCon will returning to your living room for panels, exhibits, contests, and more via their official YouTube channel.  Fanbase Press’ staff, contributors, and creators will be participating in quite a few intriguing panels throughout the convention that you will not want to miss!  And, all of our comics, graphic novels, and other geeky merchandise will be available for sale through our Online Store!

COMICS, GRAPHIC NOVELS, & OTHER MERCHANDISE

While fans may not have a chance to stop by the Fanbase Press booth in person to pick up copies of our work, our entire catalog of comics and other geeky merchandise are available through the Fanbase Press Online Store!  Highlights include the 2018 Eisner Award-nominated Quince, the 2014 Bram Stoker Award-nominated Fearworms: Selected Poems, The Sequels, A Geek’s Guide to Cross-Stitch: Journeys in Space, The Margins, The Gamma Gals, Something Animal, Identity Thief, The Arcs, and Penguins vs. Possums

Plus, fans can purchase a copy of Quince: The Definitive Bilingual Edition hardcover which was recently named as a finalist in the 2020 Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Awards.  In addition, attendees can pre-order a copy of our upcoming trade paperback for Nuclear Power, a darkly poignant alternate history of the Cuban Missile Crisis that posits the lengths to which a government will go to protect (or deceive) its citizens.  Issues #1-6 of Nuclear Power will be released digitally through ComiXology and Hoopla starting in April 2021. The series will be collected into a printed trade paperback for an October 2021 release, and pre-orders made by August 1, 2021, will receive exclusive signed prints of the single issue covers, as well as an Issue #1 variant cover, signed by the creative team.

Friday, March 26

  • 1:00 p.m.: Rise of the Latina Superhero Kayden Phoenix (writer/creator, Jalisco: Latina Superhero, Santa: SJW Latina Superhero), Barbra Dillon (Quince, founder of Fanbase Press), Amanda Julina Gonzalez (illustrator, Jalisco: Latina Superhero,Ruca: Latina Superhero), Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez (writer/creator, La Boriqueña), and Ralph Henriquez (writer/creator, Fuerza) discuss the expanding universe of Latina superheroes in film and media. These creatives will partake in a Q&A session moderated by Nelly Castillo (co-founder/exec producer, Vendetta Entertainment). Click here to watch the panel!
  • 3:00 p.m.: The Arkham Sessions: The Psychology of Batman Clinical Psychologist Dr. Drea Letamendi and co-host Brian Ward (The Arkham Sessions podcast) return to host a delightfully fun and insightful discussion on the psychology of the Caped Crusader with acclaimed Warner Bros. Animation writers Jim Krieg (Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) and Jeremy Adams (Batman: Soul of the Dragon).  Click here to watch the panel!
  • 5:00 p.m.: Fanbase Press’ 20th Anniversary Retrospective on The Lord of the Rings – The hosts of Fanbase Press’ flagship podcast, The Fanbase Weekly, come together for one of their trademark “Fanbase Feature” panel discussions: The 20th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Moderated by Barbra Dillon (editor-in-chief, Fanbase Press) and composed of an assortment of LOTR-related special guests, including Phillip Kennedy Johnson (writer, The Last God), Justin Peniston (writer, Sonic Prime), Claire Thorne (creator, A Geek’s Guide to Cross-Stitch), and Drew Siragusa (co-host, The Fanbase Weekly podcast), this panel will examine the plot, characters, themes, and the massive impact of this iconic film.
