‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #14:’ Advance Comic Book Review

TMNT 14Previously in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Casey Jones came to the turtles after being beaten up during his father’s latest intoxicated stint of violence. True to his aggressive idiom, Raphael sets out to find Casey’s dad in order to prevent him from doing this again.

SPOILERS BELOW

The latest issue sees several different stories going on at the same time. The main focus follows the aftermath of the attack on Casey. Splinter joins Raphael’s confrontation with Casey’s dad, where he tells Raphael he was once filled with rage as well. Raphael must overcome his temper just as Splinter once did. He convinces his son to not attack Casey’s father, and when the ordeal is over, it is decided that Casey will live with them.

On the villain front, Krang takes Baxter Stockman to Dimension X. We learn more about Krang, the rest of the Utroms, and their quest for domination. As an added bonus, we get our first glimpse of the Technodrome being built. In a shot reminiscent of the scene from Revenge of the Sith, where we see Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, and Grand Moff Tarkin watching the construction of the Death Star, I got very excited.

As for the most shocking part of this issue, it goes to the brief appearance by Shredder. Upon the revelation of his ultimate scheme, I knew that this series will continue to surprise us at every turn.
