‘Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery’ – Film Review

After hearing about the animated film, Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery, my initial reaction was to wonder how it has taken 40 years for this team-up to happen. One is a group of colorful characters who have been entertaining children of all ages for generations, and the other is a marketing juggernaut that has become one of the most iconic brands around . . . I will let you decide which one is which.

The movie begins with the Crimson Witch terrorizing the Kiss-themed amusement park called Kiss World. (Can we just take a moment to reflect on the fact that this is a place that should actually exist?!) The Scooby Gang arrives at the park to help solve the mystery and quickly befriends the musicians. Their quest leads them to the alternate dimension of Kissteria, where they must prevent the Crimson Witch from destroying the world.

The movie is non-stop fun. Between the all-star cast and sharp writing, this movie will keep you laughing. Pretty much any time the plot begins to get a bit too heavy, the band’s manager interrupts the movie to insert fake ads for Kiss merchandise in order to get things back on track.

Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery is available now on Blu-ray and DVD.
