‘Plants vs. Zombies: Bully for You #3’ – Advance Comic Book Review

I scream, you scream . . .

I would give you a quick recap of events, but this issue’s gonna do it for you.  So, let’s just say that things are once again going nuck-butty in Neighborville, and it’s up to our intrepid and woebegotten heroes to win the day.

Paul Tobin totally wins me back after the oddness of the last issue; the jokes are once again on point and aimed directly at the humor that the video game lives in.  With well set up gags and fun turns of phrase, he gives us exactly the type of fun fans of the game really enjoy.  The silly, madcap Bully Squad gets a fun moment of power switching, and the twist is something that I giggled about for a good five minutes.  When Crazy Dave pops in for a little Deus ex machina action, the random storyline he’s been running completes with a very sweet surprise.  I likes it.

Ron Chan has some fun and fantastic twists on the art style while staying true to the source material.  There are a lot of folks who try this all the time, but Chan manages to make it look easy.  His work melds well with Tobin’s script and makes the world seem dangerous, yet fun.

The two backup strips are fairly entertaining, the first being a Minions go shopping jaunt while the second is just pure, silly, dopey-smile-on-you-face joy.  Peter and Joanne Bagge will make you smile.

Share the stories that move you.
