‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #38:’ Advance Comic Book Review

You know what I love most about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books? The whole tie in with the action figures. Each comic I’ve read so far has reminded me of so many fond memories I had as a child. And, in TMNT #38, I saw so many of my favorite action figure characters!

In this issue, our turtles return home to find Slash awaiting their arrival to present an intriguing proposal. That’s right . . . SLASH! But, wait! He’s helping our four heroes, and he’s smart. This isn’t the Slash I know. But, as I continued reading, I discovered that Hob (a character I was unfamiliar with) was creating multiple mutants to help the turtles’ fight against Shredder and Krang. One of these mutants, however, was pretty stupid, and he enlisted the help of two mutants who I won’t mention by name, but let’s just say they’ve encountered many fights with our heroes before.

Kudos to creator Kevin Eastman for anther interesting TMNT storyline, along with the help of writers Bobby Curnow and Tom Waltz. The art and colors by Mateus Santolouco and Ronda Pattison, respectively, were also quite stunning. The turtles reminded me of the current TMNT series on Nickelodeon. Well done all around.

In the meantime, I’m looking forward to see what happens between our pizza-loving heroes and the two baddies I mentioned earlier. And, who do the turtles fight first: Shredder or Krang? Who is the bigger threat?

Until then . . . Turtle power!
