‘Think Tank: Creative Destruction #3’ – Advance Comic Book Review

Matt Hawkins and Rahsan Ekedal are at it again with another issue of the terrific series, Think Tank. Despite already being in some trouble, both with those inside DARPA and with his own moral code, David Loren is back to do what he does best: make it worse. His work has helped keep America safe, but it’s come with a price: his sanity. The implications of his actions have made him lash out a bit more than usual, and those around him have become his targets.

This is a very introspective issue for David, actually, which is something that hasn’t been explored as in-depth in earlier issues. It’s really nice to get into Loren’s head a bit, especially when Hawkins mixes in a great secondary story that will absolutely make David’s life hell in the near future.

While Hawkins is doing a masterful job, the real star of this issue is Ekedal. Now that the book is in color, his work shines more than it ever has. It’s crisp, colorful, and absolutely gorgeous. This might have also been his finest issue yet, especially with this panel layout.

On the cover of this book, it claims it will make you smarter. I’m pretty sure that’s true, given the backmatter. Hawkins puts a ton of work into that portion of the book, giving it a legitimacy that not too many other books like this have. It’s an incredible book and super fun to read. It also has a quote from Fight Club in the beginning which is pretty great.
