‘Cloaks #2:’ Comic Book Review

We’re already halfway through the Cloaks story arc now, which is a bit of a shame, because I’m really getting into it. There’s a lot going on here, and a 4-issue arc doesn’t seem like nearly enough to cover such a cool concept.

This issue sees Adam, rogue street magician with a Robin Hood streak, recruited into a secret spy organization called the Cloaks. Under the training of his former mentor and father figure, Blackstone, Adam learns to use his sleight-of-hand skills to do cool spy stuff. This includes everything from defusing bombs to getting inside the mind of the enemy using the infamous Shell Game.

Cloaks continues to be fun and exciting to read, drawing the reader in and hitting all the right beats. Like most stories about magicians, I’m sure it’s leading up to some big con/twist/payoff. You can already see the foundation for it being laid a little bit. Personally, I can’t wait to see what happens next, or how it will all turn out. If you like magic/con/crime/spy stories, this is one you won’t want to miss.
