This final issue of the Mayday story arc finally features the current Danger Girls in action. Not only that, we also see the return of Dallas, the devil-may-care ne’er-do-well who last appeared in the Trinity arc. Dallas is supposed to be a tough and highly skilled mercenary, but when working with the Danger Girls, he’s more like a goofy sidekick. As such, he adds a degree of levity to the story, providing that little bit of extra fun that sets the Danger Girl comics apart—and that’s been missing from the Mayday arc until now.
We also get to see Natalia Kassle in full force, fighting off an army of arms dealers single handed and striving for redemption for the sins of her past. This being a Danger Girl comic, that quest for redemption involves a lot of guns, knives, and ultimately explosions. There’s action aplenty in this issue.
Even if you’ve been following the Danger Girl: Mayday story arc, you may be a bit behind, since, as I mentioned, there was a gap of several months between issues. In which case, I’m here to tell you that the arc has finally completed, and it’s definitely worth catching up on. If you haven’t been following the Mayday arc, then start from the beginning and read it all the way through. It’s definitely worth it.
If you’re not familiar with Danger Girl at all, this might not be the best one to start with, as there’s a bit of backstory involved that might be confusing at first; however, it’s pretty easy to get the gist of what’s going on, and the backstory hardly matters once the action starts going in full force. The bottom line is, if you’re a fan of action/adventure/spy stories, then Danger Girl: Mayday is one you won’t want to miss.
