#CrowdfundingFridays: ‘Isabella & Blodwen,’ ‘Lead City #3-4,’ and ‘This Comic Is Haunted’

Here at Fanbase Press, we strive to provide an outlet for up-and-coming creators to promote and showcase their incredible works. With thousands of creators utilizing crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo to make those works a reality, we will highlight these talented creators and their noteworthy campaigns through #CrowfundingFridays! We hope that you will join us in giving these projects a moment of your time (and possibly your support)!

Project #1: Isabella & Blodwen

What it’s about: Isabella & Blodwen is the latest book from Rachael Smith, creator of Wired Up Wrong, Stand in Your Power, and the critically acclaimed record of the COVID pandemic, Quarantine Comix. The story follows sixteen-year-old Isabella who has been granted early admission to the prestigious University of Oxford. Academically gifted but lacking in social skills, she finds navigating the hallowed halls a trial she can’t study her way out of. Mixing with older students and struggling to find her place, she sets her heart on the coveted summer internship with her hero, Professor MacLeod. While wondering how to get the letter of recommendation she needs to be considered, she accidentally drops an exhibit from a museum she’s visiting in her bag… and Blodwen, the Witch from the Bottle, enters her life!

Project #2: Lead City #3-4

What it’s about
: Spring 1873 – Colman Cooper heads West with his wife Pearl and son Isaiah on their way to new beginnings in San Francisco. The hopes and dreams awaiting them at journey’s end are foremost in their minds as the wagon train sets out from Independence, Missouri. But the perils of the trail to California are many and exacts a heavy toll. Falling behind the wagon train, they decide to take a southerly route to avoid the winter weather. They’re deep in the Nevada territory when this decision proves disastrous as they’re forced to ground by a deadly blizzard. Making matters worse, Pearl has come down with a fever. When the storm breaks, Colman spies a town on the horizon, or is it two towns? Colman knows it’s their only chance and he heads out to get help. The Cooper family is forced to seek refuge in Dugganville where they become stranded at the worst possible time. The town is host to a deadly annual contest that has attracted a collection of thieves and killers from far and wide. Without his good wife’s counsel Colman finds his way into Lead City. Pitted against seven deadly fighters, Colman must find a way to outlast his adversaries in the anything goes, tooth and nail battle for survival. Who will win the richest prize in the West? A raven-haired pistolera with a penchant for lullabies. A jack Mormon looking for redemption. A Nepali man-of-war with a legendary blade. An Aussie sporting a mean Irish brogue and a chip on his shoulder. A Confederate guerrilla looking for a fortune. A Buffalo Soldier looking for revenge and a Shaolin Monk looking for a challenge. Ten thousand dollars goes to the best. Before Deadwood, Before Tombstone, Before Durango there was Lead City.

Project #3: This Comic Is Haunted

What it’s about
: Curated and edited by The77‘s Dave Heeley with a spectacular art vision by master of horror Andrew Richmond, This Comic Is Haunted boasts incredible covers by Ian Stopforth and Alex Ronald. Be prepared to be horrified by the contents within! It contains six stories from the twisted minds of Alan Hebden, Catherine Wild, Bambos Georgiou, Jo Heeley, and Dave Heeley. These are beautifully illustrated nightmares from the quills of Mark Marren, Gary Burley, Andrew Richmond, Ian Stopforth, Lee Milmore, and a wickedly funny tale in each issue by the wonderful Lew Stringer. If that’s not enough for you, how about an incredible back cover by fan-favorite Ade Hughes?
