Fanbase Press’ Geeky Love Letters: A Love Letter to Dale Cooper from ‘Twin Peaks’

Love is in the air at Fanbase Press! In this magical month of romance and enchantment, the Fanbase Press Staff and Contributors decided to stop and smell the roses. Throughout the week of Valentine’s Day, a few members of the Fanbase Press crew will be sharing their personal love letters to the areas of geekdom they adore the most.

To my very special agent Dale Cooper,

Soon the long and agonizing wait to see you again will be over. 25(ish) years without your sleek, black locks, chiselled jaw, and amusing quirks guiding me through the mysteries of Twin Peaks.

You told me once, “Everyday, once a day, give yourself a present” … but that damn fine coffee is bittersweet when you’re not around.

I remember the first time I saw you, driving into Twin Peaks while speaking to Diane – the other woman in your life. You came to the rescue of a town mourning its sweetheart, Laura Palmer, and in turn you became my sweetheart. I watched you, never giving up on the search for her killer, no matter how many dark truths you uncovered. Courage, cunning, and compassion (and lots of donuts and cherry pies) kept you going – could you be any more perfect?

Your determination was such that it led you to the blackest of places – the Black Lodge, in fact. And that’s where we had to say our goodbyes…

I can’t wait to see you again, but will you be the same?

From your apprehensive admirer,
Sarah Kelley
