Fanbase Press’ Scariest: ‘The Evil Within 2’

As Halloween is fast approaching, the Fanbase Press staff and contributors decided that there was no better way to celebrate this horrifically haunting holiday than by sharing our favorite scary stories! Be they movies, TV shows, video games, novels, or any other form of entertainment, members of the Fanbase Press crew will be sharing their “scariest” stories each day leading up to Halloween. We hope that you will enjoy this sneak peek into the terrors that frighten Fanbase Press!

The true fun of Halloween comes with being scared, and being thrust into an unstable environment where anything can – and will – happen is where the best type of horror comes stalking. The Evil Within 2 levels up the survival horror video game and reminds gamers of what it’s like to be terrified.

Released on October 13, 2017, The Evil Within 2 (Tango Gameworks, Bethesda) is a whirlwind of creepy fun that stays true to the original game concept while amping up the gameplay and sadism. Detective Sebastian Castellanos is once again trapped in STEM, a device that allows others to enter a world controlled by the mind of one person (The Core), but this time he is searching for the daughter he believed was dead. Still haunted by his first go-round in Beacon, he has to survive a quickly deteriorating Union, complete with some unique and gruesome bosses. Some of the murder scenes Sebastian comes across are breathtaking with their insanity, while some of the creatures will haunt gamers long after they turn off the game.

Beyond the scary, The Evil Within 2 delivers hours of great gameplay, complete with lots of collectibles, including mysterious objects ripped straight from other games. These aren’t the only Easter eggs; you’ll find lots of little things around Union if you look hard enough, including a couple of nods to Twin Peaks. There are also some throwbacks to the original game, which will leave fans of the original smiling. Of course, dry witted Nurse Tatiana makes an appearance, giving another stunning performance as our favorite, straight-faced caretaker.

If you plan on eating bags of Halloween candy with a game controller in hand this year, you can’t do any better than The Evil Within 2.
