Wrath of the Titans Has a Leg Up

Wrath of the Titans MTBy Michael Fitzgerald Troy

Sam Worthington may have traded his close-cropped coif for curly locks, but I’d recognize those gorgeous gams anywhere. Aside from Oscar/Jolie, I dare you to show me a better set of legs in Hollywood. Okay, gratuitous, smarmy remark aside, how about a movie review?

In a time of gods and monsters and really bad hygiene and scraggly hair, it’s father against brother son against uncle and no cable TV.

Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, can top the original Clash of the Titans from the ’80s. Harry Hamlin, Maggie Smith, and a creepy as all get out Medusa? Who could ask for anything more?

I did enjoy the remake from a couple years ago and went into Wrath with mediocre expectations.  I’m happy to say my expectations were easily surpassed. Good story, good action, good cast, cool monsters, and decent 3D.  That’ll be $20. Here ya go.

It’s fun to see Liam Neeson tied up and tortured for 2 hours.  And, I’m always happy to see Ralph Fiennes in a role where Jennifer Lopez isn’t his maid.  Yay for another slightly longer cameo by Bubo, the beloved android owl. If they can’t feature the damned owl, I say give him a freakin’ CGI cartoon already. People would eat it up.  Woot!

In the 1st one, Perseus fought the Kraken, and Chronos gets a can of whoop a– this time around. If they are going the alliteration route for the rogues gallery, I suggest Christina Aguilera as the villain the third time around.

In a time of non-gods and non-monsters still behaving badly, I say Wrath of the Titans is worth the price of admission.

Wrath of the Titans is in theaters now.

Michael Troy is a deeply superficial person. Born in the midwest in the ’70s, Michael came to Los Angeles to pursue his bi-polar career path as an actor and artist. 2005 saw the release of Michael’s first published book, Homo-Hero’s Big Book of Fun and Adventure (www.greencandypress.com). Michael has contributed to the Lady Gaga comic book from Bluewater Productions and has his hand in various other upcoming projects. Michael has performed stand-up comedy at all of the major comedy clubs in Los Angeles and is making his triumphant return to the main stage of The Comedy Store in September. Michael offers an off-beat sense of humor as the star of such youtube cult classics As The Gays on Film (www.youtube.com/fullfrontaltv), A Minute With Margot, a loving tribute to Superman legend Margot Kidder (http://www.youtube.com/user/rktcommander), and currently hosts a vlog style series Lethally Blonde over at www.monsterburg.com. Sitting alongside industry heavyweight Phil Jimenez at the “Divas and Lassoes” panel for the 2010 San Diego comic-con, Michael maintains and cherishes his “underground” status. A staunch believer in Blonde Ambition, Michael hopes his new comic about shallow blonde super heroes in Los Angeles, The Blonde Squad, will set the world on fire (or at least brighten it a bit). Check out Michael Troy and Lethally Blonde updates here!!!
