‘Young Hellboy: The Hidden Land #3’ – Advance Comic Book Review

With a vampiric villain introduced in issue 2 of Young Hellboy: the Hidden Land, there’s no doubt that there will be a conflict between our heroes and this new, terrible villain. And things go from bad, to worse, to far worse in this issue.

If you’re a fan of Hellboy and you want to get a younger audience on board with you, this series is a really great way to do so. It has a lot of the tropes that the Mike Mignola series is known for, but toned down so that your kids can enjoy it. It’s an adventure full of all of the things I loved when I was a kid – like Hellboy but on Skull Island.

And because it’s for that younger audience, and because Young Hellboy is the main character, he’s bound to go wandering off on his own, spending some of the adventure getting into trouble and unintentionally making things worse.

Rousseau’s artwork portrays scary things in a user-friendly way. He’s not trying to scare anyone, just to show that they are scary. It’s a good time.

Hellboy, ultimately, is an important story, it’s one that matters, which is why making these characters palpable for younger audiences is so important. There’s such an appreciation of myth and what it means to be a hero and a human in these stories, and in Young Hellboy, there’s an appreciation for what it means to be a kid, gobbling up adventure stories with interesting characters, like I spent a lot of my youth doing. So, sit back, and not only enjoy the thrill, but share it, too!
