‘Tomb Raider #6:’ Advance Comic Book Review

Finally! It’s that time of the month! Naturally, I’m talking about my monthly visit to my local comic book shop to pick up the latest edition of Lara Croft’s adventures, Tomb Raider.

If you’ve been following along, you know that Lara has been on a hunt for some magical mushrooms first discovered by her friend, Professor Demur. But Miss Croft isn’t the only one after these fungi, and when the Kinghthood of the Dark Spore (Nope, I’m not making that title up.) capture the Professor, it’s up to Lara to get to these mushrooms first to save her friend. And she does!

But now, in Tomb Raider #6, Lara’s muscle, Jonah, has been captured by the Knighthood of the Dark Spore (I still can’t get over that name!), and they’re demanding the mushroom and the Professor in exchange for her friend back. But when their plan backfires, someone doesn’t make it out of this issue alive…

As always, what makes this ongoing series so special is the script writing by Mariko Tamaki. Most of it is simple, but precise. We, as readers, not only know what Lara is saying, but what she’s thinking, as well. That’s hard to do in a comic book. With line art by Phillip Sevy and colors by Michael Atiyeh, this trio could soon raid the comic book industry all together, not just tombs!

And good news, Tomb Raider fans! The latest video game installment, Rise of the Tomb Raider, which originally was only released on Xbox One last year, will officially be released for the PlayStation 4 this October!  I. Can’t. Wait!

At least we have this amazing comic book series from Dark Horse Comics to keep us up on Lara Croft’s shenanigans in the meantime…

Until next month,
