‘TMNT Ongoing #77:’ Advance Comic Book Review

Happy holidays, Turtle fans!  I feel like I was just writing about our favorite pizza-loving teenagers not too long ago. I can never keep track of how often our TMNT creators are delivering us new stories and comic books.  But here we are—alone at last!  Or are we?

If you remember from last month, General Krang’s trial in Dimension X was done and over with, and Leatherhead’s beef with the brain still lingered, forcing him to confront and kill Krang once and for all.  And as an apology to the Triceratons, King Zenter told the dinosaur-like race that they would be allowed to reclaim the Earth as their own after it was wrongfully taken from them millions of years earlier.  And after Agent Bishop and the Earth Protection Force led the Triceratons into a trap, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are put into an awkward situation.

This month in TMNT #77 “Invasion of the Triceratons: Part Two,” an unexpected Master Splinter and his Foot Clan have stepped into the mix.  Egos begin to clash when Father Rat and Agent Bishop finally meet face to face to take on this greater enemy.  But as the rest of the Triceratons plan to invade the planet, will our heroes-in-a-half-shell be able to come to their friends for aid?  Or will they be forced to work together with Master Splinter and the EPF after the Triceratons have attacked their beloved city of New York?

As always, storywriters Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz know how to keep our Turtles busy.  But I hate to admit that there are too many characters to keep track of these days – between Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michaelangelo, to Master Splinter and the Foot Clan, to April O’Neil, Casey Jones, and Baxter Stockman, to Agent Bishop and the EPF, to the Mutanimals and now the Triceratons and the Immortals from TMNT Universe. Although all of these characters are unique, I only wish there was time and enough pages to read up on each and every one of them each and every month.

For now—as I expect this may be the last we read up on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a short while—we may need to wait and see what everyone is up to in the new year.

Until 2018,
#TurtlePower
